Indian opening batsman Abhishek Sharma delivered a sensational performance against Afghanistan in the third T20 international, scoring a blistering 108 runs off just 30 balls and breaking Rohit Sharma’s long-standing record.
Batting first in Delhi, India posted a total of 221-7 in their allotted 20 overs. In response, Afghanistan’s entire lineup was bowled out for 94 runs in 14.1 overs. Abhishek’s extraordinary knock featured 9 fours and 11 towering sixes. He reached his fifty in just 16 deliveries and raced to his century off the next 14 balls.
With this feat, Abhishek surpassed Rohit Sharma, who had scored a 35-ball century against Sri Lanka in 2017. Furthermore, Abhishek has now become the fastest century-maker in T20 Internationals among full ICC member nations. However, the overall world record for the fastest T20 century remains with Estonia’s Sahil Chauhan, who smashed a 24-ball century against Cyprus in 2024.
This marks Abhishek Sharma’s third T20I century, placing him behind Rohit Sharma, who leads with 5, and Suryakumar Yadav, who has 4 centuries in the format.
