A fact-check has debunked viral social media claims alleging that Aleema Khan, sister of former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, expressed a desire to become the president of PTI. Posts circulating on platforms such as X and Facebook featured a two-minute video clip alongside claims that she aimed to take over party control and made hostile remarks regarding her brother’s imprisonment.
An investigation revealed that the viral clip is sourced from a nearly hour-long interview conducted by Australian journalist Mario Naufal in August 2025, rather than a recent interaction. A comprehensive review of the full interview confirmed that Aleema Khan spoke about Imran Khan’s conditions in prison and the treatment of party workers, but made no statement regarding taking over PTI’s leadership or acquiring the party presidency.
