Following claims by Saniya Ashfaq, the former wife of national cricketer Imad Wasim, regarding a forced pregnancy termination, the physician involved in the procedure has publicly addressed the allegations.
In a recent podcast, Saniya Ashfaq alleged that in 2023, her then-husband and mother-in-law pressured her into ending her third pregnancy against her wishes after fetal heartbeat was detected. She stated that a doctor in Lahore was paid PKR 100,000 to perform the procedure while she was under anesthesia.
Responding via her YouTube channel, the physician did not dispute carrying out the medical procedure but strongly denied that it was forced. The doctor claimed that Ashfaq was informed and consenting, stating the pregnancy was unplanned and that Ashfaq intended to clear her medical condition prior to traveling for the Cricket World Cup. Due to the conflicting statements issued by both parties, the allegations of forced termination remain unverified independently.
