Karachi: Taking action, South Zone Police arrested Muhammad Faisal, a suspect involved in the murder of citizen Moin Akhtar during a robbery in Kharadar, while operations are underway to arrest the second suspect involved in the crime.
According to police, on September 9, Moin Akhtar along with his son was returning after cashing a company check when two armed motorcyclists attempted to grab cash from them. Upon resistance, the suspects opened fire, resulting in Moin Akhtar being severely injured and subsequently passing away.
A case of the incident was registered at the Docks police station, and investigation was initiated to arrest the suspects. Police identified the suspects using technical evidence and CCTV footage.
According to police, the arrested suspect Muhammad Faisal entered the bank prior to the incident and monitored the citizen’s movements. After coming out of the bank, he took the motorcycle from his accomplice Shah Faisal and drove it himself, while Shah Faisal sat in the back. During the snatching attempt, Shah Faisal opened fire on the citizen upon resistance.
Following the crime, the suspects fled towards Saeedabad via Chiriya Chowk, Custom House, Native Jetty, and Mauripur Road. A 30-bore pistol, a motorcycle, and 300,000 rupees out of the snatched amount were recovered from the possession of the arrested suspect.
Police stated that both suspects are habitual criminals and have previously been arrested and sent to jail in multiple cases. Operations are ongoing to arrest the second suspect, Shah Faisal, while further interrogation of the arrested suspect is underway.
