Pakistan’s Olympic gold medalist and reigning champion Arshad Nadeem has officially advanced to the men’s javelin throw final at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Nadeem booked his place among the top 12 contenders after delivering a best throw of 78.63 meters in the qualifying round, finishing seventh overall.
With no competitor reaching the automatic qualification threshold of 84 meters during the qualifying session, the final lineup was determined based on the top overall distances achieved by the field.
Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga led the qualification phase with an impressive 82.84-meter mark, followed by Grenada’s Anderson Peters in second and South Africa’s Douw Smit taking third position.
India’s Neeraj Chopra also progressed to the medal round, placing fifth overall with a distance of 79.61 meters.
The stage is now set for a highly anticipated final as the world’s premier javelin throwers compete for the Commonwealth crown.
