: Pakistan and the European Union have signed agreements worth 65 million euros to launch three major development programs in the country. According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the agreements were signed by Economic Affairs Secretary Muhammad Humair Karim and EU Ambassador Raimundas Karoblis. These initiatives are designed to strengthen investment, the rule of law, and the overall business environment.
Officials state that this financial assistance will also advance energy and environmental sustainability measures, while the Global Gateway program will pave the way for foreign investment in Pakistan. The projects aim to improve the tax system and long-term financial planning. In the off-grid rural areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, renewable energy will be promoted alongside increased private investment and partnerships in the province’s energy sector.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Economic Affairs noted that citizens’ access to justice will be enhanced in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, while alternative dispute resolution and commercial dispute systems will be strengthened in Punjab and Sindh. These programs are expected to boost interest from European and other foreign companies in investing in Pakistan.
During the signing, Economic Affairs Secretary Muhammad Humair Karim appreciated the EU’s continued support and partnership, stating that these programs align with Pakistan’s national goal of increasing foreign investment, improving rural electricity access, and refining commercial dispute resolution. EU Ambassador Raimundas Karoblis emphasized that these agreements demonstrate the EU’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s economic growth and investment.
