A solemn ceremony was held in Gujar Khan to mark Defense and Martyrs’ Day, paying rich tribute to Naik Muhammad Aksar Shaheed—who laid down his life in the Chawinda sector during the 1965 war—and all martyrs of the nation.
Organized by the Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Society, the event brought together retired military officers, political and social figures, and families of the martyrs. Key speakers, including Commodore (Retd) Arshad Mahmood Khan, Lieutenant General (Retd) Sajjad Haider, Tehreek-e-Jawan Pakistan leader Abdullah Hamid Gul, Pakistan Sweet Home Chairman Zumarad Khan, and Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) Ziaullah Shah, highlighted the sacrifices of the armed forces and the historical contributions of the Pothohar region in safeguarding national sovereignty.
Participants reiterated that the country’s security and independence remain directly attributable to the sacrifices of the martyrs, emphasizing national unity with the armed forces during times of crisis.
