The Pakistan women’s cricket team secured the bronze medal at the Asian Games women’s cricket event by defeating Bangladesh by 31 runs.
In the third-place match played in Hangzhou, the Pakistan women’s team won the toss and elected to bat first, posting a total of 145 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Captain Fatima Sana contributed 45 runs, Gul Feroza scored 31, and Aliya Riaz added 25 runs to lead the batting lineup. For Bangladesh, Nahida Akter, Shorna Akter, and Ritu Moni each claimed two wickets, while Sanjida Akter took one.
Chasing the target of 146 runs, the Bangladesh team could manage 114 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted overs. Sharmin Akter remained unbeaten with 46 runs, and captain Nigar Sultana was the second-highest scorer with 25 runs.
On the bowling side for Pakistan, Um-e-Hani took three wickets, while Fatima Sana, Nashra Sandhu, Ayesha Zafar, and Tasmia Rubab secured one wicket each. This victory marked Pakistan’s second bronze medal at the Asian Games, following Asim Khan’s medal in mixed martial arts the previous day.
