Fought for the defense of Pakistan and Lahore, the Battle of Dograi occupies a special place in military annals. A legendary unit of the Pakistan Army’s Punjab Regiment shattered the enemy’s dream of capturing Lahore with the blood of its 106 martyrs. Relying on just two companies, this regiment successfully repulsed 18 enemy attacks. The sacrifice of these 106 martyrs stands as a magnificent testament to Pakistan’s resolve and courage. The monument dedicated to these martyrs, located in the Lahore Cantonment, is named “Ganj Shuhada.” Every year on September 22nd, tribute is paid to these brave souls who laid down their lives for the motherland.
