The Lahore High Court has dismissed a plea seeking the immediate suspension of detention notifications issued against Dr. Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi, sisters of the founding PTI chairman.
Justice Abhar Gul Khan heard the petitions filed against the detentions. Advocates Rana Mudassar Umar and Barrister Taimoor represented the petitioners, while Farrukh Lodhi appeared on behalf of the Punjab government. The court rejected the request for an immediate stay, issued formal notices to all respondents, and sought official replies while noting that reports would be requisitioned from relevant authorities.
During the arguments, petitioner counsel Rana Mudassar Umar urged the court to review the case facts, emphasizing that both individuals are homemakers and that Dr. Uzma Khan has already been cleared of charges in a prior case, with supporting trial court documents attached to the record. The legal challenge was originally brought forward by Noreen Niazi’s daughter, Sakina, and others to overturn the Deputy Commissioner’s detention order.
