The popular instant messaging platform, WhatsApp, is gearing up to introduce a significant update to its reaction feature, offering enhanced customization for its users. Currently rolling out to select Android beta testers utilizing version 2.26.38.4, this new capability allows individuals to swap out the standard default emoji reactions with their personal favorites. According to the technology tracker WABetaInfo, the deployment is happening in phases, meaning it may take some time before it becomes available to all eligible users.
Traditionally, WhatsApp displays a fixed tray of six default emojis for quick message reactions. The upcoming update empowers users to browse their full emoji keyboard and replace any or all of these six slots with their preferred choices. Once the customized selection is saved, the new emojis will instantly appear in the reaction tray. To configure this, users can navigate to the app’s Settings, open the ‘Chats’ menu, and select the ‘Default Reactions’ option to assign their personalized emojis.
