Senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and PML-N Punjab President Rana Sanaullah emphasized that any structural decision regarding the creation of new administrative provinces or conducting a related referendum rests strictly within the constitutional authority of the Parliament.
Addressing a press conference at Model Town in Lahore, Sanaullah stated that informal discussions in economic forums or media debates will yield no legislative result on the matter, noting that the issue has not yet been formally brought before the Federal Cabinet. He affirmed that PML-N will outline its comprehensive policy stance when parliament takes up the debate. Regarding domestic fuel pricing protests, Sanaullah urged political parties to exercise restraint, noting that domestic petroleum price increases stem directly from the ongoing military conflict between the US and Iran in the Middle East.
On national security and public order, Sanaullah warned that intelligence reports suggest hostile elements could attempt to infiltrate upcoming political rallies, asserting that law enforcement agencies hold a constitutional duty to protect public life and maintain order. He also confirmed that the Punjab government intends to hold local government elections, promising that vacant party positions in the province would be filled within 30 days to empower local municipal authorities.
