The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially announced that India will host the inaugural Women’s Champions Trophy 2027, relocating the six-team landmark tournament from Sri Lanka. The event is scheduled to take place from February 14 to February 28, 2027, with matches hosted across the Cricket Club of India in Mumbai and the Vadodara International Cricket Stadium.
The participating teams—host nation India, Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka—secured their qualification based on the ICC Women’s T20I Team Rankings as of the July 6 cut-off date. Played in a single round-robin T20 format, all six teams will face each other, with the top two sides progressing directly to the final on February 28.
The hosting rights were initially awarded to Sri Lanka; however, the ICC Board transferred the event while Sri Lanka Cricket continues to work on governance reforms outlined during the annual conference in July. After assessing proposals from Bangladesh, South Africa, and India, the ICC Board officially ratified India as the new host nation.
