Senior Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Dr. Farooq Sattar, accompanied by other central figures during a press conference at the Bahadurabad center, strongly criticized the ongoing deprivation of dues for over 10,000 retired employees of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and local towns despite clear Sindh High Court rulings. Sattar highlighted that the High Court issued a historic and detailed verdict on September 15, 2026, ordering that the withheld pensions, provident funds, gratuity, and leave encashment of these retired workers—who have been deprived for over a decade—must be ensured within 60 days without fail.
The petition, originally filed in 2025 by MQM-P advocates Ashar Qureshi and Mohammad Ilyas, directs the Sindh Chief Secretary alongside KMC and relevant town officers to reconcile accounts and accurately disburse payments. Emphasizing that pensions and dues are an enforceable entitlement rather than charity, Sattar stated that authorities must secure bank loans or reorder budgets if necessary, as pensions form part of the compulsory budget. Furthermore, he strongly condemned the incompetence of local government leadership since the January 2023 elections, while party leaders warned that failure to comply with the judicial orders will prompt contempt of court proceedings and public protests.
