A sub-national anti-polio campaign has kicked off today in selected districts across the country. During this drive, 31 million children across 115 districts will be administered polio drops, with services being provided by over 273,000 polio workers.
In Punjab’s 13 selected districts, 10.6 million children will receive the vaccine, while 10 million children will be targeted across 30 selected districts in Sindh. Furthermore, 7.3 million children will be vaccinated across 37 selected districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 2.3 million children across 32 selected districts in Balochistan (with specific focus noting 447,000 children in Balochistan). In Gilgit-Baltistan, 137,000 children will be vaccinated across 2 selected districts.
Authorities have urged parents to fully cooperate with polio teams to ensure a healthy future for children. Polio workers go door-to-door in the most difficult conditions to protect every child, and citizens are reminded to ensure that every child under the age of five receives the polio drops during this campaign.
