Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has once again raised the Kashmir issue at the United Nations General Assembly, emphasizing that conflicts in South Asia, including Kashmir, should be resolved through dialogue within the framework of the UN Charter and relevant resolutions.
According to media reports, these remarks come as India and Turkey attempt to normalize diplomatic ties following a period of strain over Ankara’s stance on Pakistan and Kashmir. Addressing the UN General Assembly, Erdogan stated that it is crucial for regional stability to address all outstanding disputes in South Asia peacefully.
As reported by Reuters, President Erdogan also used his platform to advocate for major structural reforms within the UN Security Council. While India has consistently rejected any third-party mediation or external commentary regarding Jammu and Kashmir, maintaining that it is a strictly bilateral matter, Ankara continues to stress the necessity of bilateral engagement and diplomatic negotiations between India and Pakistan.
