n a significant milestone for climate resilience, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has officially launched Pakistan’s first sub-national Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Policy at the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar.
Formulated in partnership with the German government, the policy transitions KP’s disaster management strategy from reactive relief efforts to proactive preparedness, risk reduction, and early warning systems.
Speaking on behalf of the Chief Minister, Provincial Information Minister Shafi Jan emphasized the need for modern tech integration and structured planning to offset risks amplified by rapid urbanization and climate change.
Representing the German Embassy, Head of Cooperation Dr. Miriam lauded the framework and assured continued technical cooperation, stressing that robust implementation remains critical to achieving long-term disaster resilience.
