Bollywood actor Sunny Deol has shared further details regarding his dream historical project based on the life of Emperor Ashoka, expressing his intent to bring his sons, Karan Deol and Rajveer Deol, onto the project.
Speaking during promotional media interactions in Patna for his upcoming film Batwara 1947, Deol revealed that acclaimed filmmakers Rajkumar Santoshi and Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi have both narrated scripts based on Emperor Ashoka’s legacy. While the story remains close to his heart—having first learned about Ashoka from legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor—Deol emphasized that executing a historical epic of this scale requires a substantial budget to depict ancient Indian history accurately.
Deol noted that while financial resources were limited in the past, the massive commercial box-office success of Gadar 2 has significantly improved his position to back high-budget projects. He expressed confidence that with improving industry dynamics, he hopes to realize this vision soon.
Meanwhile, Deol’s upcoming period drama Batwara 1947—directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions—is set to hit theaters, featuring Sunny Deol alongside Karan Deol, Preity Zinta, and Shabana Azmi.
