Artificial intelligence has reached a new milestone in entertainment with the release of “No Big Deal,” a fully AI-generated comedy sitcom created by the British AI studio ModeLabs.ai and premiered on YouTube.
Written by Andrew Dixon, the sitcom centers around the chaotic world of venture capital, following an eccentric team at the investment firm Janus as they hunt for billion-pound business ideas—only for their efforts to repeatedly culminate in hilarious and disastrous results. Dixon initially planned to produce the pilot episode through traditional television production methods, but he soon realized the conventional route would be excessively slow and prohibitively expensive.
After collaborating with the ModeLabs team, Dixon recognized that generative AI tools could offer a revolutionary pathway to bring the project to life. However, he emphasized that producing the pilot was far from a simple one-click task, involving rigorous creative direction and complex technical workflows. Industry analysts view the release of “No Big Deal” as a significant watershed moment for the entertainment sector, demonstrating how AI can enable new creative experiments with drastically reduced time and financial resources compared to traditional production pipelines.
