Pakistan Under-19 secured a dominant 177-run victory over England Under-19 in the opening Youth One Day International at the Arundel Castle Cricket Club Ground, taking a 1-0 lead in the four-match series.
Opting to bat first, Pakistan posted a formidable 332 for 9 in their allotted 50 overs. After an early stumble at 41 for 2, opener Usman Khan and captain Farhan Yousaf mounted a monumental recovery, assembling a record-breaking 268-run partnership for the third wicket. Usman top-scored with a blistering 151 off 136 balls—featuring 15 boundaries and four sixes—while Farhan anchored the innings with a composed 115 off 133 deliveries.
In response, England Under-19 struggled to keep pace against a disciplined bowling performance and were dismissed for 155 in 35.1 overs. Left-arm pacer Mohammad Sayyam led Pakistan’s bowling attack with figures of 4 for 39, while Rizwanullah, Niqab Shafiq, and Ahmed Hussain claimed two wickets each. The second Youth ODI of the series will take place in Guildford on September 12.
