Iran has announced the temporary cancellation of flights from Tehran to Iraq’s capital, Baghdad, and Oman’s capital, Muscat. According to Iranian media, this decision will take effect from midnight on Wednesday, local time.
Citing the Iranian news agency Tasnim, Reuters reported that Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization confirmed the cancellation of flights from Tehran to Baghdad and Muscat. Iranian authorities are also working on the possibility of diverting Baghdad-bound flights to the airport in Iraq’s Najaf city, with alternative travel arrangements currently being considered.
According to Tasnim, flights from Tehran to other international destinations, including Istanbul, will remain unaffected for now and will operate according to their scheduled timetables. This shift in flight operations comes as regional tensions continue to impact air and maritime transportation. Meanwhile, diplomatic contacts between Iran and the US are ongoing, with delegations from both nations holding extended indirect talks through mediators on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
