The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have taken stern disciplinary measures against 14 soldiers belonging to the Givati Brigade’s Tzabar Battalion following a high-profile walkout at the Sde Teiman military installation in southern Israel.
The soldiers were sentenced to 30 days in military prison and permanently barred from future combat roles by brigade leadership following a severe breach of military discipline.
Background of the Dispute
The incident was triggered by an internal dispute over company insignias and symbols. Command staff moved to remove and destroy unauthorized plaques displayed by unit companies, prompting dozens of troops to abandon their weapons and walk off the base in protest.

While around 80 troops who participated in the initial walkout later returned under ultimatum to undergo disciplinary re-education, military officials labeled the event a significant failure of discipline.
