Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Negotiating Committee Chairman and Naib Amir Liaqat Baloch stated that resolving ongoing public grievances depends entirely on the government’s seriousness and efficiency ahead of crucial talks scheduled in Islamabad.
The negotiating session between the government and JI committees aims to address key public demands, including the abolition of the petroleum levy, cancellation of Independent Power Producer (IPP) contracts, and reductions in electricity and bread prices. Liaqat Baloch announced that the JI negotiating team will comprise Inayatullah Khan, Farasat Ali Shah, Ziauddin Ansari, Nasrullah Randhawa, and Naveed Ali Baig.
Emphasizing that nationwide sit-ins, protests, and rallies will continue, Baloch asserted that JI’s demonstrations are directed at solving public issues. The Islamabad meeting follows initial talks held at JI headquarters in Mansoora during a nationwide strike, where government representatives acknowledged JI’s demands as legitimate while citing international market dynamics regarding petroleum pricing.
