The nation continues to pay rich tribute to the brave martyrs of the 1965 Indo-Pak War, commemorating the extraordinary sacrifices of Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Rehman, Major Ziauddin Ahmed Abbasi, and Lieutenant Hussain Shah on the 11th day of the historic September conflict.
On September 11, 1965, Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Rehman embraced martyrdom while leading as a commanding officer during intense tank battles on the Sialkot front. Simultaneously, Major Ziauddin Ahmed Abbasi mounted a fierce resistance against a major enemy offensive in the same sector aimed at advancing toward Wazirabad. Major Abbasi personally led the counter-offensive standing atop his tank before being fatally targeted by enemy fire. Lieutenant Hussain Shah also displayed exceptional bravery on the battlefield, sacrificing his life in defense of the motherland.
In recognition of their supreme sacrifice, tactical leadership, and undaunted valor, all three officers were posthumously decorated with the Sitara-e-Jurat, Pakistan’s third-highest military award.
