All Pakistan Goods Transport Owners Association President Muhammad Owais Chaudhry Advocate has called for the immediate opening of motorways for commercial cargo vehicles, stating that continued closures are severely disrupting national supply chains.
In a video statement, Chaudhry noted that while roads and motorways have been opened for the general public, M-1 and M-2 motorways remain closed to goods transporters, leaving hundreds of commercial vehicles stranded at various interchanges. He emphasized that these trucks are loaded with essential commodities and everyday consumer goods, making the continued blockage unjustified and critically impacting supply lines originating from Karachi.
Chaudhry also demanded an immediate end to the impounding of goods vehicles across Punjab, Rawalpindi, Islamahad, and other cities. He pointed out that multiple vehicles have been held in custody for up to 20 days without any compensation or clear payment mechanism. Addressing reports circulating in the media regarding daily container rental expenditures exceeding 40 million rupees, he clarified that transporters are receiving none of these funds. Urging top government authorities to intervene, he called for the immediate release of detained trucks and unrestricted movement for cargo transport.
