Local Production of Euro-5 Standard Fuel to Significantly Reduce Imports

Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik announced that all oil refineries across Pakistan are prepared to sign formal agreements under the Brownfield Refinery Upgrade Policy. During his visit to Karachi, the minister chaired high-level meetings to evaluate energy security, the financial and operational performance of refineries, and the implementation roadmap for the upgrade policy.
The modernization of domestic refineries will enable Pakistan to produce Euro-5 standard fuel products locally. Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik emphasized that transitioning to higher-grade local refining will reduce the nation’s reliance on imported petrol and diesel, saving foreign exchange and helping stabilize domestic fuel prices for consumers.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, the minister stated that full support and facilitation will be extended to refineries to resolve any operational or policy execution challenges. Furthermore, management from the Pakistan Arab Refinery Company (PARCO) briefed the Petroleum Minister on the ongoing progress and development plans for the proposed Oil City in Hub.
