The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has announced a record recovery of PKR 2.452 trillion in direct and indirect state assets during the second quarter of 2026. This milestone brings the bureau’s six-month recovery total for 2026 to PKR 5.414 trillion—marking the highest six-month figure in NAB’s operational history.
A central achievement of the quarter was the reclamation of more than 1.078 million acres of illegally occupied state land across Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, and the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT). NAB Sukkur posted the highest regional performance, retrieving 853,678 acres of state land valued at PKR 1.01 trillion. NAB Balochistan recovered 209,544 acres of forest reserves and commercial land valued at PKR 604.64 billion, including protected areas in Hingol National Park and the Gwadar Industrial Estate. Meanwhile, NAB Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad/Rawalpindi reclaimed major parcels of state land and amenity plots.
In addition to land reclamation, NAB returned PKR 42.303 billion in assets and funds to 24,365 victims affected by housing and financial fraud schemes. Alongside these recoveries, the anti-graft agency announced a structural shift toward digital governance, transitioning fully to an E-Office system and introducing a machine learning-driven E-Investigation platform to streamline evidence analysis and eliminate human discretion
