Following the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Hammad Azhar, law enforcement authorities in Islamabad have decided to accelerate the execution of outstanding judicial arrest warrants against several senior party officials.
According to sources, the targeted arrests pertain to existing First Information Reports (FIRs) and previously issued court warrants connected to various legal proceedings, including the November 2024 D-Chowk protests and Judicial Complex cases. Authorities intend to execute warrants against leaders including Shibli Faraz, Murad Saeed, Junaid Akbar, and Abdul Ghani.
Other figures facing legal action in various Islamabad cases include Zartaj Gul, Amir Masood Mughal, Dr. Amjad Ali, and Meena Khan Afridi. Furthermore, authorities plan to advance legal proceedings against former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Omar Tanveer Butt related to the Faizabad protest case. Islamabad Police have been instructed to act strictly in accordance with judicial orders to enforce all pending warrants.
