In the Orangi Town area of Karachi, a tragic incident of alleged “honor killing” took place where a young girl was shot in the head by her brother.
According to police, the deceased was identified as 17-year-old Zarqa Bibi, daughter of Muhammad Rais Khan. The incident occurred in Mominabad, Sector 10, Bismillah Colony, Orangi Town, where the girl was killed by gunfire and her body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. According to Karachi police spokespersons, her brother, Safir Khan, allegedly shot her in the head in the name of honor and fled the scene.
Police sources stated that the victim had contracted a marriage with someone. Last night, when she informed her family about her marriage and showed them her marriage certificate (nikah nama), her brother and other relatives became furious. Relatives reportedly incited the victim’s brother, Safir Khan, to kill her, prompting him to shoot her in the head. Police are conducting raids to arrest the fleeing suspect.
