Following a prolonged recess, both the National Assembly and the Senate are set to resume parliamentary proceedings today to tackle a heavy legislative schedule involving constitutional debates and key policy resolutions.
The Senate Secretariat has issued a comprehensive 69-point agenda, which includes the presentation and consideration of 10 specific bills out of a total 17 legislative measures slated across both houses. Key legislation set for review includes the Elections Act Amendment Bill, the Anti-Rape (Investigation and Trial) Amendment Bill 2026, and the Imports and Exports (Control) Amendment Bill 2026.
In addition to the legislative workload, both houses will hold detailed discussions on the constitutional and administrative formation of new provinces. Furthermore, lawmakers are expected to table a unanimous resolution in support of the Makkah Peace Accord, signaling bipartisan consensus on diplomatic and regional security efforts.
