In a major development in the ongoing investigation into the murder of young Karachi businessman Mir Raza Ali, the newly constituted investigation team has dispatched four formal letters to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) to retrieve key digital evidence.
The correspondence requests a detailed forensic analysis of the victim’s smartwatch, along with complete access to his digital, social media, and messaging accounts to trace suspicious activity prior to his death. Meanwhile, the newly appointed probing committee is scheduled to hold its second meeting at the Ferozabad Police Station, followed by a re-examination and crime scene visit.
Addressing media personnel, the victim’s family legal representative, Jibran Nasir, expressed grave concerns regarding the chain of custody of the smartwatch. Nasir revealed that the device remained in the custody of the former committee head for several days before being handed over to the NCCIA. Citing fears of potential evidence tampering, the legal team demanded that the smartwatch be sent to the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) in Lahore for an independent and uncompromised forensic examination.
