A suspect accused of molesting a four-year-old girl in Rawalpindi was arrested after sustaining a gunshot wound from his own weapon during an arrest operation. According to the Crime Control Department (CCD), the suspect has been identified as Usman Tariq, who was wanted in a case registered at Waris Khan Police Station two days ago following an incident in Mohallah Hukmdad.
CCTV footage of the incident went viral on social media, showing the suspect capturing the minor girl in an alley and allegedly molesting her. Although the young girl attempted to break free and run away, the suspect grabbed her again and followed her inside her house. Police registered the case based on the footage and launched raids for his arrest.
During the raid, the suspect attempted to pull out a pistol concealed in his waistband, which accidentally discharged and injured him. CCD officials immediately apprehended Usman Tariq in an injured state, shifted him to a hospital, and confiscated the weapon. District Officer (DO) CCD Javed Ahmed Mirza stated that the suspect will be aggressively prosecuted with solid evidence, reaffirming that strict action will continue against those exploiting women and children.
